A journey in China through food.

So, I have taken photos of most of our meals...cause I'm kinda a huge nerd.  So here is what we have been eating while in China.

We got into Guangzhou kinda late on Saturday night so our first meal was the breakfast buffet at the hotel.

Pretty much watermelon, dragon fruit, coddled egg, cheese, pork dumpling, pineapple wrapped in ham.

Then for lunch we found what we later found out was a Cantonese restaurant, where the menu is basically fish tanks.

The food was good though. Kung pow chicken, and something else.

Breakfast again.  This time with a steamed bun stuffed with pork!

Pineapple Fried Rice!  I had this for lunch several times because they served it at the restaurant next to our hotel.

Seafood Udon, featuring octopus.  Octopus is really hard to chew, and kinda not worth it.  Also, beef fried rice with pickled veggies, kinda awesome.

Hey look, breakfast, now with more buns, and baked potatoes slices.

We found a bakery, they had crazy good things there.  It was called BreadTalk.

99c noodle house.  Everyone talked about this place, so we were excited when we found it, and quickly disappointed.  Lamb dumplings, chicken noodles, and a steamed egg for Micah.  All with leek tea to drink.

Pizza Freaking Hut!  This was a good find.  It is not the pizza hut that sits next to the car lot in your hometown, this joker sells steak, and roe stuffed fish balls.  The important thing is that they served Pepsi, and the Hawaiian pizza was good.

For lunch one day we decided to hit and 711 and just do cup o noodles at the hotel.  It was pretty good.

Lucy's.  The american restaurant, featuring super cheesy american wall "art"  We ate here a few times.  Good burgers, great fries.  The grilled cheese is really good, and the American Fried Chicken is made with fish batter.  Jenn said the beef stroganoff was the best she had ever eaten

This was at Easy Bake.  It was incredible!  Jenn had a steak with noodles and veggies.  I had eel kamameshi.

This is the meat department at the grocery store.

This is the ramen aisle!

Tai Hing!  BBQ pork belly and rice!  Jenn had chicken noodles.

Tai Hing again!  A feast of 7 taste; basically parts of duck, pig, chicken cooked different ways.
Jenn and Micah had chicken noodles again.

Well...thats most of what we have been eating.

....and because I know why you came.....

Gotcha Day / Finalized!!

So Monday was gotcha day.
We started the day packing a diaper bag, and getting things ready for having a child!

We then met our guide Elsie at our hotel rode to Adoption Registry Center in Guangzhou China.  We were sitting in the main room while Elsie took my camera and played photographer while we met Micah.

The lady in the red skirt is Ms Pan the orphanage director.

This is Ms Yin, Micahs nany.  You will notice in these pictures that he LOVES her.  We can tell that Micah was very well cared for and even slightly spoiled by this woman.
We will be forever grateful for her!

Once all of our paperwork was done they brought Micah out to where we were waiting.

Once we took possession of Micah we had several minutes to spend with Ms Yin and Ms Pan to ask questions about Micah; where he was found, what he likes, his schedule, etc.

After we were done at ARC we explored Guangzhou a bit and found 4 story mall that had a large kids play area (we haven't ventured in yet) and a fountain out front that Micah likes to watch.

~~~Finalization DAY~~~
Yesterday we Finalized Micahs adoption.
We had to take a family photo to be included in our paperwork.
This is the room where they asked us if we planned to abandon Micah.  Just straight up.  "Do you plan to abandon him?"  I have never said a more emphatic no in my life.
While we waited for the notary Micah had a chance to play.
And I had a chance to shoot some photos of China!  Where we are staying on Shamian Island is very European, so I get very excited to see China more as I expected it.
